Terms of Use
Last updated 7 September 2026
Short version: this is a private app for people attending HopeCon 2026. Use it for that, keep the emergency and medical details accurate, treat other people's information the way you would want yours treated, and do not lean on it for anything where being wrong would matter.
What this is
HopeCon is a private, invitation-only app run by volunteers at Hopeful Disasters, a Washington organization, for a single event: HopeCon 2026. There is nothing to buy here and no public sign-up. Your event fee is a separate matter, handled outside this app.
Using the app means you accept these terms. If you do not, tell an admin and we will remove your account.
Your account
- Your account is yours alone. Do not share your password or let someone else sign in as you.
- If you think someone else has got into your account, tell an admin straight away and change your password.
- We can suspend or remove an account — usually because someone is no longer attending.
- Accounts are switched off after the event. Coming to a future HopeCon means registering again and getting a fresh invitation.
Keep the important fields true
Your emergency contacts, allergies and medical notes are not paperwork. They are read by real people making real decisions at a camp in rural Missouri, possibly at speed. Out-of-date information there is the one thing on this app that can genuinely hurt someone.
Flight details matter for a smaller but real reason: they decide who drives to the airport and when. If your flight changes, change it here too.
Other people's information
The app will show you other attendees — names and photos if you share an airport run, and phone numbers between a driver and their riders.
- Use it to get yourselves to and from the event. That is what it is for.
- Do not copy it, publish it, post it elsewhere, or use it for anything unrelated to HopeCon.
- Do not collect it in bulk, by hand or otherwise.
What you put in
Your photo and anything you write stays yours. By adding it you are giving us permission to show it inside the app to the people described in the Privacy Policy — no wider than that, and for this event and the archive kept of it afterwards.
Do not upload anything you do not have the right to use, or anything you would not want an admin to see. Admins can see uploaded photos.
Fair use
- Do not try to reach data that is not yours, or to do things your role does not allow.
- No scraping, no automated access, no probing for weaknesses, nothing that degrades the app for other people.
- If you stumble on a hole, please tell us rather than exploring it. Report it to hopecon@hopefuldisasters.org. We would much rather hear it from you.
Camp rules still apply
The camp has its own rules for their property, reproduced in full on the Camp Rules page. They govern the grounds regardless of anything in this app, and breaking them can mean fees or being asked to leave.
This app is a convenience, not a guarantee
Flight times come from a third-party service and can be wrong, stale, or missing entirely. Push notifications can fail to arrive — phones decide that for themselves. Websites go down, sometimes at the worst moment.
So: do not let this app be your only source for anything time-critical. If it matters, confirm it with a person. Nobody will mind the call.
No warranty, and limits
The app is provided as it is, with no warranty of any kind. It is a volunteer project for a single event, not a commercial service, and it may change or be taken offline afterwards.
To the extent the law allows, Hopeful Disasters and the people who built this are not liable for losses arising from using it or from being unable to use it — including a missed pickup, a notification that never arrived, or flight information that turned out to be wrong.
Ending access
Access to this app ends when the event does. Afterwards your medical notes, allergies, dietary needs, emergency contacts and phone number are deleted from the app, and what remains is archived for the people planning the next HopeCon. The Privacy Policy sets out exactly what is removed and what is kept.
You can ask us to delete your account sooner, at any time, and we will — along with everything attached to it. Either way, the parts of these terms about other people's information still apply to whatever you saw while you were here.
Which law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, where Hopeful Disasters is organized. The event itself is held in Missouri, and the camp's own rules apply on their property.
Changes
If these terms change in a way that matters, we will post it as an update in the app. Questions go to hopecon@hopefuldisasters.org or to any admin.
